Day Trip: Philadelphia Museum of Art

On Tuesday, (Nov. 8) I went to the Philadelphia Museum of Art with my mom. I have an upcoming research paper that I need to write for my Art History Class, which is Arth199- Age of Impressionism, that required me to go to the museum and find a painting that serves as my paper’s subject. Even though UD is absolutely gorgeous during the fall, it was nice to be off campus. I don’t ever get off campus, let alone get to be in a car, so the change was really refreshing. It was also really great to see my mom, who works in Manhattan, so she really isn’t that far away! It was amazing timing that she was already coming down for dinner on Tuesday so I could get a ride with her instead of taking the Septa all alone.

We drove to Philadelphia, which really isn’t that far! Philadelphia is really pretty, I miss being in a city! All the changing fall trees along the ride as well as in the city made the trip worth it. The Museum itself is huge! The building is gorgeous, it had it’s own roundabout and its own little section of the city. I took many pictures of the exterior, interior, the view from the steps, and a couple paintings that I might write my paper on.

After the museum, my mom took me to the grocery store where I bought much needed college essentials: pretzels, wheat thins, nutri grain, bread, and of course…peanut butter and jelly! This should cover me until thanksgiving break, as long as my friends don’t come and eat it all! My mom got the opportunity to take me and two of my friends out to dinner at Iron Hill Brewery, which is one of my favorite places on main street, because it has nice food that we don’t usually get to eat. I’m happy my mom got to meet my friends and just see me and know that I’m doing great in college. It was a really good way to spend a Tuesday!
